The Duesseldorf Institute for Foreign and Security Policy (DIAS) was founded in 2003 by young scholars and industry experts. As an Institute at the Heinrich-Heine University, it is today a recognized independent interdisciplinary forum. The Institute's work focuses on foreign policy and security policy in an economic, historical, and international-law context.
DIAS offers an academic audience a chance to exchange views on questions of foreign and security policy. Through external lectures and debates, it also offers an interested public a better understanding of international relations. The Institute also offers seminars and study trips, an in-house publication series, and the opportunity for young scholars to publish articles on the Institute’s website. Together, these activities help DIAS fulfill its mission to be the German foreign- and security-policy network for the 21st century.
